Marc’s original ideas and thinking on education and students have provoked controversy and strong reactions in some circles—especially among some old-guard academics. Marc sees such disagreement as healthy, and is happy to defend his views in any forum.
Marc has publicly debated, for example, Mark Bauerlein, author of The Dumbest Generation, with whom he profoundly disagrees.
Marc also profoundly disagrees with the ideas Nicholas Carr expresses in “Is Google Making Us Stupid” and “The Shallows.” Marc has offered to debate Carr as well.
